Aug 27, 2018 | Arthritis

What is Arthritis?

By definition arthritis is the painful inflammation and stiffness of the joints. Some fifty million Americans suffer from over 100 different joint diseases currently catalogued and known. Most people think that arthritis is a disease that comes about from age. This could not be any further from the truth, with over 300,000 children in the United States suffering from various types of this degenerative disease.

I’m sure you are familiar with the most common types of arthritis, which are rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and gout.

There is one central core item that ties all forms of arthritis together and that is inflammation. Inflammation is the key component which is part and parcel with all forms of arthritis and the resulting pain it causes.

So how do you avoid arthritic type diseases? You may think getting arthritis is unavoidable in this day and age. But, there are certain actions you can take, which will assist you and keep you healthy and active.

First and foremost is actually protecting your joints from injury. Exercising, sports activities, etc. can contribute to injury. When it comes to sports, make sure your equipment (shoes, padding, etc.) are up to par. Make sure when you are pushing yourself, athletically, that you do it on a proper gradient to avoid strain.

Also, maintaining a healthy weight or losing those unnecessary pounds will help a great deal. We have a tendency to obesity, so shed those excess pounds and not only will you be healthier, but your joints will be oh so happy.

It is vital that you eat a properly balanced diet which includes foods rich in calcium, vitamin K and vitamin D. But, even eating well doesn’t always guarantee that your food will provide the necessary nutrients the body needs in order to have a proper inflammatory response. This is why we have developed several supplements to help you maintain balanced nutrition, support the body’s natural inflammation response, and help the body get the rest it needs to recover.
